What you’ll see
George Town's UNESCO core is walkable: the clan jetties, Khoo Kongsi, the Blue Mansion, Little India and the street-art lanes off Armenian Street.
Food is the real itinerary, char kway teow, assam laksa, cendol and nasi kandar, and we will point you at the stalls rather than the restaurants.
Outside the city there is Penang Hill by funicular, the Kek Lok Si temple, the Batu Ferringhi beach strip and the Tropical Spice Garden.
It is a flight or a long drive from Kuala Lumpur, so most people take it as two or three nights rather than a day trip.

Good to know
- UNESCO listing
- George Town was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008 for its shophouse streets and its clan and religious architecture.
- Walking level
- Moderate. The heritage core is best on foot and the street-art lanes reward wandering, but the heat is real, build in a coffee stop.
- Penang Hill
- The funicular up Bukit Bendera queues badly at weekends and on holidays. Going early makes a large difference.
- Hawker hours
- Many of the best stalls open only for part of the day and close on set rest days, so the food plan follows the stalls, not the clock.
Ask for a quote
Tours are priced per group, not per head, so the fare depends on your dates, your numbers and the vehicle. Tell us those three and we will send a real figure.
